Observational Painting
On the Road to Carrizozo: painted from my memories of driving in the desert at dawn in New Mexico. I’m indecisive about the frame and have ordered another frame to try – a floater frame that will be a warm rosy brown. Once framed, it will be ready to send to its new home in California.
Lots of “painting it on” and “scraping it off” lately, with an orange bug brought back from Alamogordo NM.
My painting, Hot Day Cool Brook was selected for Concord Art’s MJ1 show, juried by Emily Eveleth and Penn Young. January 16—February 9, 2020. Opening reception: January 16, 6-8PM. There will be wonderful art to see – you should go!
And The Walk is at Spaulding Rehab’s (through the Artists Group of Charlestown) Finding Your Strength. Opening reception: Thursday, January 23, 4-5:30PM. The exhibit is up until March 23
This painting has issues but I’ve got time. Uniquely for me, I’m working from memory (an absolutely gorgeous sunrise drive across the desert seared into my neurons) and a few very poor photos.
Find me on the 3rd floor of the StoveFactory, Charlestown MA today – Sunday, December 8, 11-5 – last chance for 2019 – I’m overdue for some painting hibernation.
I’ve been cleaning out files and came on ink & watercolor drawings from 20 years ago – I don’t remember what they are about but oh! there’s Bunny!
Coming up this weekend, I’ll have paintings in Roslindale – come find me at Turtle Swamp Brewing! In my free time, when I’m not ordering greeting cards and posting images on line, I’ve moved studios – same building, same hallway, no more luxurious excess space. Pictures will follow once I actually fit everything in and hang my paintings. And then I’ll paint again!
Excellent grey day – none of those fast moving shadows streaking across the vista. These 2 paintings are 8 and 6 inches square and a return to my quick study “postcards from . . .” style. I also tried out a new easel, not bad but not perfect.
